OUR HISTORY

Over 35 years of continuous growth

  • 1984

    American Airlines founded AMR Services, a ground handling company.

  • 1993

    AMR Services acquired French-based SFS, forming a powerful European and North American cargo and ground handling business.

  • 1999

    SFS/AMR merger renamed Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) to reflect global expansion of the group.

  • 2004

    WFS started joint venture with Bangkok Airways at Bangkok Airport, providing ground and cargo services.

  • 2008

    WFS bought 60% stake in British Airways Regional Cargo, making it UK’s largest cargo warehouse provider.

  • 2014

    WFS entered Latin America ground handling market with controlling share of Orbital Group, operating at 19 airports in Brazil.

  • 2015

    WFS acquired 51% shareholding in Fraport Cargo Services and entered Spanish ground handling market at 5 airports.

  • 2016

    WFS acquired Consolidated Aviation Services (CAS) and became leading
    ground handling and cargo company in North America.

  • 2018

    Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. (“Cerberus”) acquired WFS from Platinum Equity.

  • 2021

    WFS acquired Mercury Air Cargo and Pinnacle Logistics, two leading US cargo handlers as well as R.A.Hand for freight forwarder handling services in France.

  • 2022

    WFS is awarded a 15-year concession to operate its first cargo handing operation in India at BLR Airport, Bengaluru.

  • 2023

    SATS Completes Acquisition of Worldwide Flight Services
